so many flowers!
free with purchase
so we had to start our garden over. as i am not a very good gardener – i killed every seedling tilly and i grew. no biggie – – we come from the line of judi – we just buy replacements!
so we bought two tomato plants, a red pepper, tilly picked out strawberries although i'm sure i'll kill those.
and yesterday we bought a few flowers to kill including a pink geranium.
as i was re-potting the geranium i noticed something moving – i assumed it was a worm – and jumped a little – and then i saw it was a snake! then i screamed a little. tilly and i spent the next half hour trying to get it to crawl into a jar. thank goodness jeremy came home. he picked it up and put it in the jar so tilly could show all her friends. he wanted to know why i didn't pick it up – are you serious?
summer…finally
with warm days finally here – and snow free trails – we rode our bikes to basalt yesterday. jeremy had tilly on the trail-a-bike attached to his bike. i was lucky enough just to be pedaling for myself (although i was still way behind.)
we took a couple breaks where tilly ate and drank. it took us about 2 hours and we rode straight to sunday breakfast at wienerstube.
it was a fabulous morning!

dress rehearsal
tilly's first recital is tonight – her ballet company is putting on 'alice in wonderland' for the spring recital. there are about 175 ballerinas in the performance. pretty amazing. yesterday was dress rehearsal and tilly and kendall got to wear their costumes for the first time – they were so excited!
getting closer…
tilly's birthday is now just a week away. and her birthday trip with her friends is in two days!
i finished their little goodie bags tonight. they are made out of terrycloth with blue cording straps and monograms and silk flowers. i think they turned out pretty cute. the girls really enjoy getting to fill them with treats over the day.
bluberries
i'm currently reading the omnivore's dilemma and while i still eat doritos when i want to – i have defintely been more aware of food since we ate all local last september.
as part of this i get a little obsessed over those foods that are so good for your body – like blueberries.
so tonight to combine good food and dessert i made blueberry buckle – it was on good eats with alton brown last night on the food network.
i love alton brown. he talks about the why's of cooking and baking not just the how to. i know i don't take it all in, but i'd like to think that some of it goes in and maybe helps down the road.
p.s. the buckle was excellent!
so close…
tilly's birthday is closer then i think. we should do something about this…
first – we are sewing small terry cloth (read: spa-like) backpacks for her and two girlfriends for this year's birthday day trip. they will come equipped with a few girly spa-like items: lip gloss, body glitter and a travel hair brush with built-in mirror. tilly picked out the items today and was so certain these were the right items that i had to let go of any ideas i had.
the contents did lead to a cute idea for their little travel bags for the day. i hope they are as cute when they are done.
there hasn't been a lot of general craftiness since web design took over my life so girly birthday crafting will fill the spot!
