Handspun in progress

Yesterday I started knitting up the handspun I bought. Baby Girl wanted wrist warmers and Kaitie Tee had suggested it too so that was where I started. The yarn is so fat though that I decided to turn it into a shrug. It will be a little small and silly but I think kind of cute on Baby Girl with a white tee. I’m sure I’ll have yarn leftover, but I’m so paranoid about running out – aahhh!

today

It’s my birthday!

I had a wonderful day – ice skating, playing, knitting, shopping and eating (including a chocolate diet pepsi and chocolate cream pie!).

My mom and stepdad were very sweet to send beautiful flowers – which really helps this time of year in the land of snow.

And if you look carefully you’ll see my new bag from The Boy acting so nonchalant. The bag is from the new women’s snowboard shop in town. They carry Burton (see bag), Paul Frank, free people – just about everything I’d like!

Tomorrow Baby Girl and I, her best friend and her best friend’s mom ( a friend of mine) are going on a day trip – just over 2 hours away. This is the first time we are going to stick two 3 year old girls together in the back seat for over 4 hours of driving. They love each other like sisters – and fight like them. This is what it’s worth around here to get the kids to Chuck E Cheese so they can run around like crazy people (and we can do some shopping).

my home page

When I start up my computer and open my web browser I keep Gmail as my home page. It is my email and I do love it. But lately this is the image on the homepage. Hawaii, surprise party, sushi and a BBQ??? Are they just trying to make me feel bad about myself like I have no life! C’mon Google give me some subjects I can relate to – Assignment List, Mommy & Me music schedule, enlarge your penis

forgetful

As I was running around the house yesterday doing something (it’s not that big, just that messy) I remembered these glasses. My boss (definitely the best!) gave them to me for Christmas. There are actually two others. She found them at an antique store in northern Colorado. She’s such an excellent antiquer/finder. I would love to have that ability.

And I just think the glasses are too cool!

new yarn

…not needed – but soooo fabulous! As soon as I picked Baby Girl up today I showed her the yarn I ordered from Hello Yarn. It arrived today and I just want to look at it! As soon as we got home we wound it up into a ball – the biggest ball of yarn I’ve ever had. Of course, it’s only about 81 yards. What do you do with 81 yards of fat yarn? and what needles do I use?

cards in progress

I’ve started making my New Year’s/Thank You cards. It is, of course, taking me forever to pick which pictures I should send to each person. I can see now I should have ordered more of Baby Girl with grandparents than with friends. I’m also tagging each card with a post-it right now so I can remember who each one is for. I’m using Paper Source cardstock as always – I just love it.

Maybe the best thing in the picture though is that new box I’m using to hold all the parts of the project. I picked that up in the Target dollar section yesterday (for $2.50 though). It’s so fabulous and perfect. I bought two, but I could buy more!

cards are always nice

I ordered more cards through my flickr account from moo. This time I ordered family – mostly Baby GIrl. I’m going to use them for thank you cards and happy new year’s cards (a little late to say the least). I think they turned out really well.

first completed project

I must have started Baby Girl’s leg warmers last year. (I’m sure I could look back at my own blog and figure it out.) But I feel pretty good that I have a completed knitting project this early in the year.

She wore them to music class today and danced all around. They looked pretty cute. I’m tempted to make myself the pair in last-minute knitted gifts. They just seem like such a fun frivolous garment to have.

away

I’ve been in Chicago for the past week. A bunch of us went home to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday. Our flight was delayed all day so we didn’t arrive until 10pm. She was very surprised to have friends and family walk in while she was already in her robe. We had so much fun!

I had to go to work today. So I bought some gorgeous handspun from Hello Yarn. I’m not even sure if it’s enough to make anything, but I’ll have to try…

coffee cards

…still hoping the magazine thing happens at the end of this month, I added some notecards to my etsy store today. I goccoed one of my favorite coffee mugs onto red and pink Paper Source cardstock. Printing with the gocco is such instant satisfaction and Paper Source makes such beautiful colors – I’m always happy at the end of the night when I have a table full of new cards!

We’ve had a few of those Kodak disposable cameras around. It’s been kind of fun to have a camera in my bag that I don’t have to worry about at all. It’s also given Baby Girl a chance to work on her photography. I quite like this pic of The Boy.

late gifties

One of the many joys of the large Colorado storms was holiday gifts coming late…so this book just arrived this week. The Boy is definitely one of the best gift givers I know – it’s fun being lucky!

wip

…so the funny part about this WIP is that part of the project is complete – just missing.

Baby Girl wanted leg warmers, she picked out some super soft purple yarn and I knit. 30 stitches with a 1×1 rib. I finished the first leg warmer and then Baby Girl took it to use as a blanket for her My Little Ponies…now there is no first leg warmer to be found.

At least the second one is started…
