Last week while surfing – we were supposed to be working – The Boy and I bumped into the Wurst Gallery – we gocco show. It was funny because we had both found it separately and then forgotten to show each other. We bought Kate Bingaman’s set of prints. We both loved them – what an easy buy!

New Sock Bags!
I focused on one project this past weekend and I made a bunch of Sock Knitting Bags! Just perfect for carrying around your sock knitting. I’m really happy with them. Each one is about 10″ by 9″ and holds a skein of yarn and two circular needles. I really enjoyed making my little ‘cafe crafty’ tag – I can’t wait to try more ribbons and paint. The bags are for sale in my etsy store. Enjoy!
secret pal yarn
We have a PO Box for our mail and somehow we hadn’t checked this week until today – and there was a little key waiting – which means there is a bigger package waiting. I was so excited to find knit picks sock yarn from my secret pal! Mindy lives in Iowa and is getting married soon! Thank you so much Mindy and good luck!
Craft – as seen on TV!
We watch TV.
Baby Girl likes the ads.
So – in honor of our current ad obsession…
FLOAM
We had to Floam a dinosaur
Valentine’s Day bags
I made these little bags as gifts for Valentine’s Day (forever ago) and then realized when I was knitting my sock that it was the perfect size to carry my sock yarn and circulars. I love my Lexie Barnes bag, but it’s nice to have something smaller to throw in my purse. I’m going to make some more to put up for sell on etsy and see if any other sock knitters agree with me.
the only books i’m currently reading – part 2
In the series about the only books I’m currently reading (installment two) these are Baby Girl’s two favorite books – currently
The T. Rex book and the Body book are both really well made and interesting. Baby Girl knows so much – and The Boy and I have learned a lot!
the pal i had
The secret pal given to me was Kaitie at Law School and Knitting? I had a great time reading her blog and finding cute things to send her. I’m so happy her package arrived!
SOCKS!
I finished my very first pair of socks!
I wore them to work last week – in clogs with rolled up jeans so I could show off – and I got tons of compliments. I really love them. My sweet georgia yarn is so soft! And really, with Sensational Knitted Socks and Socks on Two Circulars it was hard to screw up (although I tried). The colourway goes really nicely with my rocket dog clogs and gives me a great excuse to wear them both (even though falling in these clogs is always a little too close).
I was so proud I even showed them off around my house…snowbunnie went to sleep!
Baby Girl asked me to make her a matching pair. I made mine so short I think I have enough yarn to do just that. I made mine short – because even though it’s just knitting I was so anxious to get to the heel I just needed to get there as soon as possible.
I used the very first pattern in Sensational Socks with a 2×2 rib. It was so fun! It doesn’t take forever and in the end you have this amazing object – I can see knitting a lot of socks!
secret book
i was so excited to have a package slip waiting for me at the post office.
my secret pal sent this super cute book…
small gifts
So in all the craziness of last week – gallery install, show opening, paper trails for days – our car broke down. We only have one car, it broke down about 45 minutes away and it took a week to fix.
My fabulous boss was amazing and lent me a car for the whole week!
I knit her this little dishcloth. The pattern is from Melissa’s Knitting Pages and I originally saw the link at whip up. The cloth has a little house pattern in it, although it’s hard to see with the shifting colors. It was pretty cute, easy and fun to make!
My Sunday View
Sunday was sunny with fresh snow. I went snowboarding in the morning. I hiked up to the top of Long Shot – took this picture – and then rode the longest run on the mountain – about 3 miles. It was the best I’ve ever done on that run – like flying!
half sock
so i’m halfway through my first sock ever. i don’t want to admit how long it took me to get to this point (there was lots of undoing and re-knitting). i’m moving forward again though – and i have to say i’m amazed – it’s like a sock!
First Sock
So I finally bought my Addi Turbos last weekend. I started my first sock last night with my Sweet Georgia yarn. I’m using both Socks Soar and Sensational Knitted Socks. We’ll see how it goes..
My Sampler is here!
I completely forgot that a week or so ago…
Yea! My Sampler arrived with the coolest stuff. As soon as I read about The Sampler in Bust I couldn’t wait for another subscription to come up. I feel like this is the life we lead in craft-land – making way too much stuff and not always knowing what to do with it.
It’s full of the cutest cards, buttons, soaps – everything! I just love it (and I hope to donate too)!
Odd Fellow 2
Baby Girl stayed home last week with a cold so I finished her Odd Fellow and gave it to her as a little cheer up.
For better or worse I make up the way I attach the limbs each time. For this one the legs kind of look like they are walking – or doing a little jig – so perfect for Baby Girl.
walk-in surprise
by the way… I work at an arts center – pretty good deal really. So everyone here makes stuff and we’re all pretty aware of each. This morning one of the potters I work with (who is also in charge of landscaping our entire 4 acre campus) brought in some bingo cards his mom found in Georgia so I could make some more bingo books. How sweet and thoughtful. I’ll have to get these made right away and send one stitched and bound back to Georgia. Maybe the other two will get posted in my etsy store.
looking for spring in tucson
…with blue and green. Our trip to Tucson came with some cool presents – all in spring-y colors. We must be short on color here with all the snow.
I got these cool ‘fat baby‘ boots for my birthday and my stepmom bought Baby Girl and me Spring-y aprons from Anthropologie – I just love it there!
Another Bunny
I finally finished Kate Gilbert’s Bunny and sent it off to my friend’s new baby. The funny yarn made for a pretty, cute fluffy bunny. The pattern is genius! It’s knit in one piece and seamed up the back (essentially) – fabulous!
is it too late?
The Birthday goes on…
Also waiting in the mail for me when we got home was a birthday present from my cool architect friend – she’s got a great sense of design…and good taste in gifts!
I love the mug and I’m using it right now. I used the great coffee soap in the shower this morning and the coolest is the bubbles. Everything they say on the package is true! I blew bubbles for Baby Girl’s bath last night – they are extra colorful, they do make a cool ‘pop’ sound when they pop and they are extra strong – they would bounce and land on the water. Amazing! Thanks Ru!
